The nice folk over at Bringdownthewalls have give Appian_005  a tasty write up. It seems they are impressed with the talent from both sides of the atlantic on this release, mentioning Natan H’s ‘glistening synths‘ while Joey Andersons Dormencycreeps, crackles and slithers menacingly and magnificently with little more than a distant bittersweet melody for company’. Have a read for yourself here.

For our second mix we welcome Jordan Hochenbaum aka Natan H. We’re a huge fan of his music with excellent releases on Ethereal Sound, Mysterious Russian Soul & Batti Batti. Jordan features on Appian_005 – Sunken Guidance Ep and will also feature on Appian_006 (TBA). His mix is an expertly selected and mixed journey full of atmosphere and depth. Enjoy!

We are in the final stages of production for our next release (Appian_005) where we continue to showcase more of our favourite artists from across the globe. Featuring artists from the east coast (Joey Anderson & Dj Spider) and west coast (Natan H) of the States and also closer to home in Ireland (Leonid). Differing shades of intelligent House & Techno suitable for the right moment at night or during the daytime.

A nice write up from Juno records on Appians next release (Appian_005) with Joey Anderson, DJ Spider, Natan H and Leonid.

“The Dublin-based imprint launched last year with an EP from Spanish producer Eduardo De La Calle, and has grown in profile this year via an ongoing series of various artists samplers that has drawn on material from both local and international producers. The forthcoming third V/A sampler from Appian Sounds, entitled Sunken Guidance and available to preview below, is shaping up to be the label’s most impressive to date.

Rising New Zealander Natan H and recent Dolly signee Leonid line the A Side whilst Appian Sound’s hand is further strengthened by two draw cards from across the Atlantic on the B Side. Joey Anderson expands the repertoire of label’s he surfaced on this year with a typically cosmic and subby ‘Dormancy‘, while Brooklyn’s DJ Spider (pictured above) provides some murky gurgles and loose keys in ‘Anticpate The Wolve’.”

The plan is to start getting some of our artists to showcase their talents and tastes by providing us with mixes. First up we have Label founder Al Blayney. This mix of House & Techno gives a pretty good indication of the direction that Appian is headed. Included is music from Artists that the label admires and some very nice unrealised tracks from future Appian releases too.

Just Vinyls, No Digital. Hope you dig : )

Feedback & Comments welcomed.

The nice folk over at Faithfanzine have given our new Oscillating Metronomics EP (Appian_003) release a nice little write up. Describing LAAK’s track as “deeply hypnotic cut Semantics that moves, grooves and drifts at a suitably relaxed pace punctuated only by the intermittent and wholly-suitable Mutabaruka-style vocal snatches. Ace, totally.”

Sounds like the folk over at Faithfanzine like what Appian are up to with are second release!

“Hold my hands up. I am a sucker for limited pressing, hand-numbered, vinyl-only labels. There is simply something addictive about not only their relative exclusivity but also their sheer passion and desire to persevere with plain, old-fashioned records in a digital world. Of course the music has to cut the mustard too, but thankfully there are many of these underground warriors that are managing to do just that. Appian Sounds is one such imprint.”
